The Concept
Pianists are always seeking performance opportunities. Being booked for a concert by an external organizer is, of course, the ideal scenario! However, reality is often quite different.
Venues require rental fees, advertising is expensive, and the classical music audience is widely dispersed—typically found in significant numbers only in major cities.
With our new online concert series, we resolve most of these challenges, bringing pianists and a global audience together!
Thanks to sophisticated livestreaming technology—powered by the global market leader, Vimeo—the physical location of the performance plays only a minor role; the pianist can perform from the comfort of their own home, playing on their very own grand piano. The world’s time zones are catered to across three distinct segments: the Western Hemisphere, Europe, and the Eastern Hemisphere.
By encouraging pianists—once registered on this site (www.pianoforte.best)—to actively invite their own contacts to attend, we are rapidly building a vast social network of listeners that is growing virally into a high-caliber community of pianists. In this way, an ever-increasing number of pianists and listeners can share their passion for the piano through PianoForte!
ALWAYS live—never “canned”
ALWAYS with piano
Classical, Jazz, Chamber Music—also with vocalists!
Application
- To apply as a pianist, please send an email to pianist[AT]pianoforte.best containing the following information:
- Your Piano Diploma/Certificate
- URL of your personal website
- URL of your YouTube channel
- Your proposed program (60 minutes in total, including brief pauses between pieces)
- The program should be centered around a specific motto or theme—e.g., “Early Bach,” “Chopin’s Miniatures,” “Pure Romanticism,” or “Music from the Beyond.”
- Your request for three specific performance dates—featuring the same program—selected from our Google Calendar. Please indicate one date for each of the following regions:
- Western Hemisphere (UTC-5) — please specify as “No. 1”
- Europe (UTC+1) — please specify as “No. 2”
- Eastern Hemisphere (UTC+8) — please specify as “No. 3”
- Your confirmation that you agree to the Terms and Conditions (including remuneration details) outlined below.
Terms and Conditions:
- By participating, you assign your rights to your image and audio recordings to the association DoctorsDome.center | Wolfgang Ellenberger,
- including the right to further multimedia utilization of the material.
- At the same time, you retain the rights to utilize the material independently and at no cost yourself. This saves you a significant amount of money compared to commissioning a professional video production company—you may consider this a form of in-kind compensation!
- You agree to handle your own registration and to actively recruit subscribers during the month preceding your scheduled concert date, thereby entitling you to receive a fee equivalent to 60% of the resulting profits.
- You agree to receive your fee via your PayPal account, which you may set up free of charge if you do not already have one.
- Compensation:
- We aim to provide you with appropriate compensation for your work.
- In this initial phase, we are primarily seeking pianists—active musicians who will perform concerts and assist in building the platform!
- Once we reach 1,500 subscribers, we can offer you a fee of approximately €1,800 for a single weekend featuring three one-hour concerts. As the subscriber count increases, this fee will rise accordingly.
- Therefore, it makes sense for you—generally speaking—to actively promote the platform and recruit subscribers!
- Until we reach that milestone, you will receive a proportional share of 60% of the profits generated from subscriptions sold during the month preceding your concert; this payment will be disbursed via PayPal immediately following your performance. In return for this commitment, you will have the honor of having played a pivotal role in the founding of this platform—and the opportunity to return and perform here again in the future (at which point, the compensation will undoubtedly be higher).
- This arrangement reflects the standard profit-sharing model typically found between artists and management.
- We hope for your cooperation in ensuring that active pianists, too, contribute to the success of this platform by purchasing a single annual subscription (€25 per year) for themselves. This will also enable you to watch and enjoy the concerts performed by your fellow musicians!
Technical Setup
As soon as we have scheduled a time, let’s hold a video conference via WhatsApp or Google Meet to test the technical connectivity of your signal.
If you are already able to log in to studio6 as a guest camera—using the Chrome browser (!)—via this link https://vimeo.com/live/guest/g5mi5ssf6ft with an HD video signal and a good audio source, then your onboarding is already complete! This process is explained in the video above starting at the 04:40 mark, or alternatively here:
Otherwise, please visit our new “Signal” page, where you will find specific tips and video tutorials covering various setup options.
It is important that you import the pianoforte.best concert calendar into your Google Calendar so that you have an overview of all concert times and can plan your concerts optimally. Here is the link to import the calendar, as explained in detail in the following video: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid=cGlhbmlzdHNAcGlhbm9mb3J0ZS5iZXN0
